What you're looking at is my Subaru (on the right) and the newer version on the left. Significant differences between the body styles of the two years include a redesigned front, rear, sides, interior, drivetrain- there really isn't much that they left the same. I like the new hood much better, am a bit undecisive about the new grille, but very much like the new headlamps and lower front bumper.
I also like the interior. A lot. I sat in one, and was quite impressed. And I have to say, I'm beginning to like this new Impreza the more I see it around. The new wagon is more like a hatchback, and the new sedan is... civilized. It's grown up and doesn't look like the kid-brother to the full-bore STI that ours is. The interior is more luxurious and relaxed, and while it feels less sturdy and functional, it feels more luxurious.
It also costs less too... a reason we're still considering trading in ours for the newer model.
Overall... I'd have to say that this is a striking image. The car on the left is more attractive, while the car on the right looks bulldog like, ready to attack but not actually cause any damage, like a small little terrier. The car on the left is respectful and peaceful, and I really have to say that I applaud Subaru's redesign of the Impreza. I really do. I finally admit defeat and will no longer accept the new model with the holdbacks I had prior. It's a great car.
There was a lot of fun to be had at the PDX Auto Show this year. A bunch more concept cars than normal. I wish that they elevated them and got rid of the barriers between the audience and car, because they really mess up the pictures. Overall, I'd say I liked this year's show a lot better than last year's show, for a few reasons.
First, I was kinda bummed that there weren't a bunch of modified Lamborghinis up in the Tuner section upstairs. I was instantly relieved when I saw that Lamborghini had brought it's own little section, and was displaying four cars of it's own.
Second, there was the Dodge Demon. ("Awww... look at the cute wiggle Dodge Demon...") Small, probably wicked fast, and has the potential to handle quite well unless it gets the "American Turning Capabilities" that many American-made cars have. (A bad turning radius is another name for it.)
